Hopkins Connects with Mahomes in Chiefs Debut

It didn’t take long for DeAndre Hopkins to catch a pass from Patrick Mahomes.

Hopkins made his debut with the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, and the former Clemson star receiver quickly connected with Mahomes, hauling in a 13-yard reception from Mahomes on the third offensive play of their game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

That opening possession ended with a Chiefs touchdown, and they went on to beat the Raiders, 27-20, in Las Vegas.

Hopkins later added a 16-yard catch on a Chiefs field goal drive, and he finished Sunday’s game with two receptions for 29 yards on three targets.

The Chiefs officially added Hopkins last Thursday, acquiring the five-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowler in a trade with the Tennessee Titans. In six games for the Titans this season, Hopkins had 15 catches for 173 yards with one touchdown.

Hopkins, 32, and the two-time defending Super Bowl Champion Chiefs will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 9 on Monday Night Football Nov. 4 (8:15 p.m., ESPN/ABC). Kansas City (7-0) currently stands as the lone undefeated team in the NFL.
