What Does Klubnik Think About Being on Heisman Lists?

What does Cade Klubnik think about his name being on various Heisman Trophy watch lists and rankings?

Clemson’s star quarterback was asked that question when he met with the media on Wednesday.

“I’m not really looking at that at all, to be honest,” Klubnik said. “I’m just trying to go beat Louisville this week.”

One national outlet, Athlon Sports, re-assessed the Heisman race heading into Week 10 of the season and kept Klubnik at No. 6 in its Heisman rankings. Another national outlet, CBS Sports, moved Klubnik up one spot to No. 3 in its latest college football quarterback power rankings this week.

Is being mentioned in the Heisman Trophy conversation at this point in the season a little bit gratifying for Klubnik, especially since many people wrote him off following the Week 1 loss to Georgia?

“We’ll see by the end of the season,” Klubnik said with a smile.

Klubnik has put up stellar numbers through seven games this season, completing 66.7 percent of his passes for 1,836 yards and 20 touchdowns with just three interceptions, to go with 227 rushing yards and four more scores on the ground.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound junior is the first Clemson quarterback to throw multiple touchdown passes in six straight games since Trevor Lawrence in 2020. Klubnik has thrown for 300-plus yards three times this season, including back-to-back 300-yard passing games in Clemson’s last two contests against Virginia and Wake Forest – the first time in his career that he has recorded consecutive 300-yard passing games.

Klubnik and the 11th-ranked Tigers are set to take on Louisville this Saturday at Death Valley (7:30 p.m., ESPN).
