Kirk Herbstreit believes Clemson will beat Louisville tonight, and ESPN’s lead college football analyst explained why he thinks the 11th-ranked Tigers (6-1, 5-0 ACC) will come out on top against the Cardinals (5-3, 3-2).
During ESPN’s College GameDay show Saturday morning, Herbstreit said he thinks the game at Death Valley will feature plenty of points from both offenses. But in his opinion, the difference in the game will come down to a couple of things.
“I do think it’s going to be a shootout. I think both these quarterbacks have a chance because of what Pat (McAfee) just said about the Clemson defense, unless they can get right,” Herbstreit said.
“The difference I think could be in this game – two things. Louisville has struggled against mobile quarterbacks, and (Cade) Klubnik can move around and make plays with his feet. And the other thing is the turnover margin has been significant. Clemson plus-9. It’s been a disaster for Louisville, they’re minus-2. I think that’s the difference in the game, especially in Death Valley.”
The Tigers are a 10-point favorite entering tonight’s game, which will kick off at 7:30 p.m. and be televised on ESPN.
