CLEMSON – With Clemson playing from behind for most of the night and eventually falling to Louisville 33-21, the starters saw most of the action on the offensive side of the ball against the Cardinals.
Four of the five starting offensive linemen played all 104 snaps and Phil Mafah was on the field for 98.
Freshmen receivers T.J. Moore and Bryant Wesco both logged their most snaps of the season and Harris Sewell actually saw more time at right guard than Walker Parks did.
It’s a stark contrast to what was seen during the previous six-game winning streak, as the coaching staff was routinely able to get the backups plenty of time on field.
With the loss, the Tigers fall to 6-2 overall and 5-1 in ACC play. Clemson now finds itself all but out of contention for a spot the conference title game and seeing how they were all the way down at No. 23 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday night, an at-large spot also appears out of reach.
