PITTSBURGH – Pitt will be without its starting quarterback when the Panthers host No. 20 Clemson (7-2, 6-1) on Saturday.
Eli Holstein, who has left each of Pitt’s last two games with head injuries, will not play, according to a report by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Holstein has played in all nine games for the Panthers (7-2, 3-2) this season, completing 62% of his passes, for 2,177 yards with 17 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Backup Nate Yarnell, who came in for Holstein after he was injured in last week’s loss to Virginia, is expected to start. Yarnell has appeared in six games for the Panthers this season, going 30-of-48 for 314 yards with five touchdowns and the two picks.
Clemson and Pitt is set for a noon kick on Saturday at Acrisure Stadium. ESPN will have the television broadcast.
