The third set of College Football Playoff rankings in the 12-team playoff era have been released.
On Tuesday night, the College Football Playoff Selection Committee’s latest CFP Top 25 rankings of the 2024 season were unveiled.
Clemson (8-2, 7-1 ACC) moved up to No. 17 in the third CFP rankings reveal of 2024.
The Tigers checked in at No. 23 in the initial CFP rankings and were at No. 20 in the second set last Tuesday.
Tonight marked the third of six weekly playoff rankings shows televised on ESPN throughout this season. The CFP Top 25 announcements will go through the sixth and final reveal on Selection Day (Sunday, Dec. 8).
Of course, this is the inaugural season of the 12-team playoff format, which features the five highest-ranked conference champions, plus the next seven highest-ranked teams as determined by the CFP Selection Committee.
The four highest-ranked conference champions will be seeded one through four and each will receive a first-round bye, while teams seeded five through 12 will play each other in the first round on the home field of the higher-ranked team.
The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played in the New Year’s Six bowl games, and the national championship game will continue to be at a neutral site.
After seeing its playoff hopes take a big hit with an upset loss to Louisville on Nov. 2 at Death Valley, Clemson bounced has bounced with consecutive wins, including last Saturday’s 24-20 victory on the road at Pitt.
The Tigers will not return home and face in-state FCS foe Citadel (3:30pm/CW) before finishing up the regular season at home against the rival Gamecocks on November 30 (12pm/ESPN).
