Swinney Gives Wednesday Injury Update on Tristan Leigh, Marcus Tate

One of the biggest questions heading into No. 12 Clemson’s rivalry matchup against No. 15 South Carolina, is the health along the offensive line.

With Marcus Tate missing the past three games and Tristan Leigh having missed most of the last three, Dabo Swinney was asked after Wednesday’s practice about the status of those two players.

“Getting a little better,” Swinney said during his weekly Zoom call. “They’ve been able to practice a little bit. Hopefully, they’ll keep improving hour by hour, minute by minute, as we head into the weekend.”

Swinney also provided an update on reserve lineman Trent Howard after TCI reported earlier on Wednesday that he would miss the game against the Gamecocks with a knee injury.

“He tore an ACL,” Swinney said. “Just breaks my heart for him. He is one of the best kids we got on this team.”

With the Tigers being so beat up along the offensive line the past couple of weeks, Howard had seen a lot of time the past two games, even starting at right guard in the win over The Citadel.
