Swinney: Clemson can Play with ‘Anybody in the Country’

There’s no lack of confidence for No. 12 Clemson’s head coach Dabo Swinney. With the Tigers licking their chops ahead of a season-defining matchup with No. 15 South Carolina, he believes his team can match up with anyone.

Swinney appeared on the Gramlich and Mac Lain Show, pleading his case about Clemson and the strides the team has made throughout the season.

“We’re 9-2 so we’ve got seven power conference wins. I think that’s like fourth in the nation. And then of those power conference wins, six of them were double digits, that’s tied for first in the nation,” Swinney said.

The lack of respect around the ACC appears to be fading and Swinney is seizing the moment as is Clemson. While the wins are what matter on paper, he sees the evolution of his team and especially quarterback Cade Klubnik to be the reason the Tigers can go toe-to-toe with anyone.

“I think we’ve got one of the best offenses in the country,” Swinney said. “We’ve got a quarterback playing at a high level that’s incredibly capable. We’ve got a Butkus finalist on defense. We’re a good football team. We’re not perfect, we’re flawing like everybody else. I mean, everybody has some flaws but we’re a team can, I think, play with anybody in the country.”
