The 6-foot-8, 285-pound prospect is fresh off his second game-day visit this weekend and he and his family could be seen chatting it up with offensive line coach Matt Luke long after the game had ended. His mother is a Clemson alum.
Wilmes also visited for the hope-opener against App State, then picked up his offer in November. Florida State, Arkansas, Iowa, Wisconsin and Nebraska were a few of the other schools to have offered.
“Tradition, great coaches, player accountability and school pride are a few things that come to mind when thinking about the Clemson football program,” Wiles said in a previous interview. “I grew up watching the Tigers play every fall.”
His addition to the class now gives Clemson five commitments in the 2026 class that ranks No. 11 in the country. Wilmes is also the first offensive lineman to join the class.
