The No. 4 Kentucky Wildcats came into Littlejohn Coliseum expecting a tough game but few predicted the Clemson Tigers to come out on top 70-66 in one of the SEC/ACC Challenge games that sat out of the spotlight.
What a win it was but it came after the rest of the conference failed to hold up its end of the bargain. Before the buzzer sounded on the victory, it was already 9-0 with the winner decided.
But nonetheless, Clemson’s win over No. 4 Kentucky is the highest over a non-conference ranked opponent since the Tigers beat No. 3 Kentucky in 1997. It is also the highest ranked win over a non-conference opponent at Clemson in program history.
The SEC has officially clinched this year’s 16-game SEC/ACC Challenge after nine games:

ACC: 0— Jeff Borzello (@jeffborzello) December 4, 2024
Better late than never as Clemson took down a top-five foe and the only team ranked higher in the SEC is yet to play in the challenge. The Tigers are still coming off a historic Elite Eight season and this win will do wonders for a resume builder in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
