Swinney Gives Injury Update on 4-Star LB Signee

Clemson four-star linebacker signee Logan Anderson was enjoying an outstanding senior season at Fyffe (Ala.) High School before it was cut short by injury in early November.

Unfortunately, Anderson missed the end of his final high school campaign after tearing his ACL during Fyffe’s first-round playoff victory over Ohatchee on Nov. 7.

Anderson signed with Clemson on Wednesday, the first day of college football’s early signing period, and Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney gave an injury update on Anderson.

Swinney said during his national signing day press conference that Anderson underwent successful surgery to repair his torn ACL. He is slated to enroll at Clemson in January and will be able to ramp up his rehab with the Tigers.

“He had ACL surgery, and went well,” Swinney said. “Did it there in Birmingham, and he’s doing well. Good thing he’s coming in midyear too, so we can really pick up the rehab for him and get him ready to go.”

Prior to his senior season coming to an early end, Anderson – a talented two-way player for Fyffe – posted 91 carries for 1,275 yards and 19 touchdowns while tallying 20 tackles and four tackles for loss on defense.

Anderson had an impressive prep career as a running back, recording 631 career carries for 7,021 yards and 110 touchdowns. He also scored 21 two-point conversions and added five kickoff returns for touchdowns. Defensively, he racked up 105 career tackles with 10 sacks.

Anderson was selected as a first-team all-state running back in 2022 and 2023 and led Fyffe to a 2A state championship in both of those seasons. He scored a whopping eight touchdowns — seven rushing and one on a kickoff return — in a 2023 playoff win against Locust Fork, then amassed a record 256 yards rushing on 34 carries and scored four touchdowns en route to MVP honors in the 2023 state championship game.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder committed to Clemson back on July 26, choosing the Tigers over numerous other offers, including Georgia, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Washington and Ole Miss. He’s heading to Tiger Town ranked as the No. 68 overall player in the country by Rivals, which considers him the fifth-best inside linebacker nationally and fifth-best player in Alabama for the 2025 recruiting class.

“He’s one of the best players in Alabama. Two-way guy, plays every snap,” Swinney said. “Coach Paul Benefield at Fyffe, I’ve known for, I don’t know, 35 years or so. I signed one of his kids when I was coaching at Alabama when he was at Sylvania High School. So, I’ve known him a long time. There’s not a tougher coach. You can play for Paul Benefield, you can play for anybody, and this guy is tough as they come. Really excited about Logan. He can fly.”
