CLEMSON — Clemson, the No. 12 seed in the College Football Playoff, will take on No. 5 seed Texas this Saturday in the first round at DK Royall Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas.

The Clemson Insider, along with the rest of the Clemson media pool, was allowed to observe the first three periods of Tuesday’s practice, which is usually the Tigers’ toughest of the week. Of course, while the media was there, there was no hitting.

Here are a few things we noticed while we were able to watch.

–Clemson’s seven early enrollees participated in practice. Per NCAA rules, early enrollees can participate in bowl/CFP practice and can travel to the site of the game. However, they cannot participate in the game.

–A lot of the scout team players were wearing Texas’ players numbers as they try to give the Tigers a good look in practice. For instance, wide receiver Zack Jackson, a scout team player, was wearing No. 2, as he tries to give the look of Texas’ Matthew Golden.

–Phil Mafah was practicing at RB today. In case you are wondering, Keith Adams, Jr., was second in the rotation, followed by Jarvis Green and David Eziomume.

–Clemson’s offensive line, at least going into Tuesday’s practice, looked intact. Ryan Linthicum was at center, while Tristan Leigh was at left tackle, Marcus Tate at left guard, Walker Parks at right guard and Blake Miller at right tackle.

–No surprise, Adam Randall will start on kickoff returns. The junior even broke a return during special teams drills. Green will be his backup and up man in the return formation. Randall’s 41-yard return with 16 seconds to play, setup Clemson up in good position for its game-winning kick in the ACC Championship Game.
