Former Clemson Co-DC Let Go By NFL Team

This NFL team has reportedly parted ways with a former Clemson coach.

According to reports, the Cincinnati Bengals made several coaching changes on Monday, including letting defensive line coach Marion Hobby go.

This marked Hobby’s 10th season as an NFL coach and fourth with the Bengals. Hobby, 58, had been the Bengals’ defensive line coach since 2021, following two seasons (2019-20) as defensive line coach for the Miami Dolphins and two seasons (2017-18) as DL coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Hobby coached at Clemson twice. He was defensive ends coach for the Tigers in 2005 under Tommy Bowden and then served as co-defensive coordinator/DEs coach from 2011-16 for Dabo Swinney.

Prior to his second stint at Clemson, Hobby spent three seasons (2008-10) as assistant head coach, defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Duke. He got his start in the NFL as DEs coach for the New Orleans Saints from 2006-07.

Hobby has also been an assistant coach at Mississippi (1999-2004), Tennessee (1998), Louisiana-Lafayette (1996-97) and Tennessee-Martin (1995).
