Wednesday Morning Update on Former 5-star Jeremiah Alexander

Clemson played host to Alabama transfer Jeremiah Alexander on Tuesday.

As previously reported, the former 5-star talent arrived on campus on Monday and stayed overnight.

As of late Tuesday night, there was still no word on a decision, but TCI has learned the visit went as well as it could have and that the orange carpet was indeed rolled out for the highly-touted prospect.

Alexander previously said that he was planning to take visits to Ole Miss and Oklahoma on top of the visit to Clemson. However, no dates have been set publicly. We’re unsure whether those visits actually take place now. He did visit Auburn on Saturday.

With the new semester about to start at most schools, a decision is expected in the very near future. Classes at Clemson actually start back up today.

Alexander was the nation’s No. 1 edge defender and No. 18 overall prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, per the 247Sports Composite. He played his high school ball at Thompson (AL) and was a teammate of current Clemson standout Peter Woods, who has been actively helping the Tigers recruit the talented transfer.

Clemson also recruited Alexander hard coming out of high school. He visited Clemson in the summer of 2021, and coming off that visit, it looked like the Tigers were going to be the choice. However, shortly after, Alexander would announce a commitment to Alabama.

At the time, Clemson was recruiting him as a defensive end. Now, TCI has learned the staff is looking to take him as a linebacker. Although, where he would ultimately fit in could hinge on who the new defensive coordinator is. He does have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-2, 249-pound prospect originally committed to Alabama in March of 2020, before decommitting and opening up his recruitment again the following fall.

Alexander spent three seasons with the Crimson Tide. He appeared in four games at inside linebacker his first season while redshirting. He was moved outside ahead of the 2023 season and appeared in 24 games over the next two seasons, posting eight tackles, with a lot of that action coming on special teams.
