One of Clemson’s top offensive line targets in the 2026 recruiting class is postponing his scheduled visit.
4-star Maxwell Riley (Avon Lake, OH) tells The Clemson Insider that he will not visit Clemson on January 25 as planned. Riley has yet to reschedule a date but told TCI he would be back on campus “soon.”
We do already know Riley won’t be able to attend the Elite Retreat on March 8 because he has a conflict due to his track schedule.
Getting Riley back on campus sometime over the next few weeks could be key, seeing as he’s talked about making a decision as early as sometime in February. At the same time, Riley has visited Clemson about half a dozen times now, most recently in late November for the blowout win over The Citadel. It’s not like he’s unfamiliar with the coaching staff, or exactly what the program has to offer.
In a recent interview, Riley told TCI that Clemson, Ohio State and Michigan State made up his top three.
A dead period will begin on February 3 and run through March 2, meaning if you can’t get him back to campus that first weekend in February, you’d have to wait until March.
– Offensive line coach Matt Luke continues to burn up the roads. Early on Monday, Luke was in to see 4-star target Bear McWhorter (Cartersville, GA). McWhorter has already told TCI he will be in attendance at the Elite Retreat.
– Luke was also at the high school of 4-star Ekene Ogboko (South Garner, NC). The 6-foot-6, 280-pound prospect is considered one of the Top 50 players in the class. Ogboko tells TCI he’s unsure at this point if he’ll attend the Elite Retreat. He’ll make those plans at a later date.
– Late last week, receivers coach Tyler Grisham checked in on 4-star wideout Connor Salmin (The Bulls School, MD). The 6-foot-1 wideout picked up his offer last June and has told TCI he will be in town for the Elite Retreat.
