Another former Clemson star will be on the active roster for the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
Per reports, the Chiefs have elevated former Tiger wide receiver Justyn Ross from their practice squad to the active roster ahead of their matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
A spot in the Super Bowl will be on the line when the Chiefs and Bills kick off at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City (CBS/Paramount+).
Ross joins fellow former Clemson wideout DeAndre Hopkins on the Chiefs’ active roster, while former Tiger linebacker Baylon Spector is a member of the Bills on injured reserve.
This marks the third time this season that Ross has been elevated to Kansas City’s active roster. The 25-year-old was also promoted in Weeks 9 and 10, when he played 14 total snaps across those two games and drew one target.
Once seen as a first-round talent, Ross went undrafted due to injury concerns coming out of Clemson and ended up signing with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2022 before missing all of the 2022 season while on injured reserve with a foot injury.
Last season, the 6-foot-4, 210-pounder recorded six receptions for 53 yards in 10 regular season games.
Ross finished his Clemson career (2018-21) having recorded 158 passes for 2,379 yards with 20 touchdowns over 39 career games (24 starts). The former five-star prospect from Phenix City, Ala., concluded his time at Clemson ranked tied for fifth in school history in career receiving touchdowns, 10th in career receiving yards and 11th in career receptions.
Ross, as well as former Clemson receiver Cornell Powell, each earned their second Super Bowl championship ring in the past two seasons when the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers, 25-22, in overtime in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas on February 11, 2024.
