RALEIGH, N.C. — With its win at NC State on Saturday, Clemson has won six straight. The Tigers are now 10-1 in ACC play for just the second time in program history.

Clemson first accomplished the feat two years ago, and while it’s absolutely a monumental start, head coach Brad Brownell isn’t getting too caught up in the standings.

Brownell knows all too well that his team still has to finish strong.

“That’s great but there are still nine games left,” Brownell said. “It doesn’t mean a lot right now. We have important games ahead. Because you have played well, the games ahead give you a chance to do something special.”

Two years ago, when his team was in the exact same spot, most thought the Tigers were a lock for the NCAA Tournament. However, Clemson finished up by losing five of their final nine games in ACC play and would ultimately miss the big dance.

Injuries plagued that team and while those memories are still fresh, Brownell feels really good about his current squad.

“This is a different team,” Brownell said. “You dig into it, we had some injuries and guys missed games during that stretch. That’s part of it. You got to be lucky. When you don’t have your full guys, it makes it harder. This year, most games, we’ve had full allotment. But this year’s team just needs to worry about what is ahead of us, not what happened two years ago.”

Up next is one of the more challenging parts of the ACC slate, although the next three contests will be played in Littlejohn. Clemson welcomes Georgia Tech to town on Tuesday.

After that comes the highly-anticipated matchup with No. 2 Duke. Clemson is currently one game behind the Blue Devils in the league standings.

Two days later, the Tigers host North Carolina to wrap up the three-game homestand.

“I am proud of us for being 10-1,” Brownell said. “But we know there’s nine more games to go to finish the league.”
