Jags Executive: We Will Win a Super Bowl with Lawrence

Coming off a disappointing 4-13 season in 2024, the Jacksonville Jaguars are moving forward with new leadership, after hiring Liam Coen as their new head coach and hiring Tony Boselli as their next executive vice president of football operations.

Boselli, the Hall of Fame offensive lineman and Jaguars legend, is a firm believer in franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

So much so, that Boselli and the Jaguars’ brass are confident they will ultimately win a Super Bowl title with Lawrence at the helm.

“When we got into the in-person interviews, from the moment he walked in, he owned the room and had a great plan for how he saw the team,” Boselli said when talking about Coen becoming Jacksonville’s next head coach, via 1010XL: Jaguars.

“Obviously a big part of this whole thing was Trevor Lawrence. We’ve invested a ton of money in Trevor, and we believe … I said we will win a Super Bowl championship trophy, a Lombardi Trophy, with Trevor Lawrence. I’ve believed that from day one. I still do.”

The former Clemson star signed a five-year, $275 million contract extension with Jacksonville last offseason.

Lawrence, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, completed 60.6 percent of his passes for 2,045 yards with 11 touchdown passes and seven interceptions over 10 games during the 2024 season. The 25-year-old was placed on injured reserve Dec. 4 after his shoulder injury and concussion, and he underwent successful surgery on Dec. 17 to repair the AC joint sprain in his left shoulder.

Coen was highly successful in 2024 as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator/play-caller while working with quarterback Baker Mayfield, and now Coen is tasked with maximizing Lawrence’s talent and potential.

Coen is excited about Lawrence and loves what he brings to the table for the Jags.

“Trevor is an extremely talented football player,” Coen said. “He is a quarterback in the sake of the word. When you watch his purest throw, that looks like what you really kind of want to build in a lab in a lot of ways. Tall, big, strong, athletic. Those are unbelievable things. Then you start to get to know him a little bit. You start to hear the humility and what he wants to bring to this city and to this organization. That’s exciting.

“He is willing, he is very much so capable. He’s shown to do so before. Now how do we help him around? How do we help around him, be better in the run game, defend it a little bit better to make sure that we can maximize him to be at his best when his best is required?”
