Despite Strong Performance Tigers Lose to NC State

CLEMSON – Clemson’s Gymnastics team had one of its better performances of the year Friday at Littlejohn Coliseum. Unfortunately, for the Tigers, NC State did too.

Though Clemson tallied its second-best score of the year with a 195.950, the Wolfpack scored a 49 or better on three rotations for a 196.050.

The Tigers were led by Madison Minner and Eve Jackson on the vault, Jackson and Hannah Clark on the bars and Brie Clark on the floor exercise.

Jackson and Miner both scored 9.825s on the vault, while Tara Walsh and Maggie Holman both got 9.75s. Clemson finished the vault with 48.850. NC State tallied a 49.075 in the vault.

Jackson was again strong on the bars, as she earned a score of 9.825. Freshman Hannah Clark also came up big, tallying a 9.825.

On the beam, Sierra Church stuck her dismount and earned season-high 9.90 for the Tigers’ high score. Tara Walsh set a career-high on the beam with a 9.875, giving Clemson a 48.975 in the event.

Though NC State barely outscored Clemson on the floor exercise, the Tigers still scored a 49.125. Brie Clark closed out the night for Clemson with a 9.925, it was her second consecutive strong performance on the floor.

Molly Arnold, Minner and Jackson recorded 9.8s, along with Lilly Lippeatt on the floor.

The Tigers will stay at Littlejohn Coliseum and host Stanford a week from Sunday for a 4 p.m., meet. The meet will be televised on ACCN.
