The Clemson men’s basketball team made a move up in the latest AP Top 25.
Clemson (21-5, 13-2 ACC) climbed to No. 18 in the updated AP Top 25 Men’s College Basketball Poll released Monday.
Clemson re-entered the AP Poll a week ago, checking in at No. 23. It marked the first time the Tigers had been ranked in the AP Poll since they were No. 25 in the poll released Dec. 16. Clemson fell out of the poll the next week after an overtime road loss at South Carolina on Dec. 17.
The Tigers have bounced back with three straight wins since suffering an 89-86, triple-overtime loss to Georgia Tech in Littlejohn Coliseum on Feb. 4.
After beating then-No. 2 Duke, 77-71, in a thriller at Littlejohn on Feb. 8, Clemson earned two more victories this past week, including an 85-65 win over North Carolina at home last Monday and a wire-to-wire, 72-46 rout of Florida State this past Saturday in Tallahassee — the second-largest victory margin in school history on the road at FSU.
The win at FSU marked Clemson’s sixth road victory in ACC play this season, a new school record. The previous mark of five was set by Cliff Ellis’ team in 1986-87 and tied by Brad Brownell’s Tigers in 2023-24.
The Tigers tied a school record with their fifth double-digit road win. They now share that with Ellis’ 1986-87 team – Horace Grant’s senior season. That same 1986-87 squad won its first five road games, and this year’s version has tied that mark of five consecutive road victories.
After the win over FSU, which currently serves as a Quad 2 win, Clemson moved up three spots to No. 26 in the NET Rankings.
Clemson has won nine of its last 10 games overall and is currently tied with Louisville (20-6 overall, 13-2 ACC) for second place in the ACC standings, one game behind Duke (22-3, 14-1 ACC).
Clemson returns to the court this Saturday when it travels to SMU, which will serve as a Quad 1 opportunity. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. on ACCN.
