CLEMSON – The Clemson Tigers dominated the Furman Paladins, 12-0, in a five-inning makeup takedown on Tuesday at McWhorter Stadium.
The victory extends Clemson’s win streak to 12 games — the longest streak since 2023 — and marks the Tigers’ second straight run-rule.
Clemson (15-6) dominated at the plate against Furman (7-15), earning 14 hits, gaining momentum with each inning, and highlighting the team’s offensive depth. The Tigers also delivered a strong defensive performance, making key plays and providing solid support for their pitchers.
Marian Collins delivered an impressive performance, going two-for-two at the plate and driving in three runs. Collins and Hailey Whitesides both collected home runs off the Paladins. Jamison Brockenbrough added two hits while showcasing her speed on the basepaths. The Tigers’ offense executed three successful bunts, keeping the pressure on throughout the game.
Macey Cintron started in the circle for Clemson, facing 10 batters and allowing two hits over 1.2 innings pitched. With the bases loaded and pressure mounting from the Paladins, Clemson opted for an early pitching change, bringing in Reese Basinger.
Basinger (5-2) completed the rest of the game with a shutout in the circle, racking up four strikeouts over 3.1 hitless innings to earn the win.
A two-out double from Sam Minish drove in a run, giving the Tigers an early 1-0 lead after the first inning.
Clemson’s offense gained momentum in the second, sparked by singles from Collins and Brockenbrough. Alex Brown capitalized with a clutch gap shot to bring in a run, forcing Furman into an early pitching change with one out.
With two runners in scoring position, Maddie Moore’s fielder’s choice down the first-base line allowed Brockenbrough to race home, sliding in safely to extend the lead to 3-0. Julia Knowler followed by beating out a throw to first, bringing Brown across the plate and extending the lead to four.
The Tigers kept applying pressure in the third, opening the inning with back-to-back bunts from Ava Wilson and Aby Vieira. Collins then crushed a 230-foot home run, pushing the lead to seven with no outs. Smart baserunning from Brockenbrough added another run, while an RBI groundout from Cintron further extended the lead.
With a commanding lead, the Tigers took the opportunity to rotate new faces into the lineup in the fourth, showcasing the depth of their roster.
Freshman Riley Fennell hit a shot deep to left center for a standup double, allowing her to steal home on a wild pitch during Kylee Johnson’s walk. Whitesides crushed her first home run of the season with two outs, extending the lead to 12.
A single by Taylor Pipkins improved the score to 12-0 and forced Furman to make its second pitching change of the game.
