CLEMSON — Clemson’s defense will look slightly different this year as Penn State’s former defensive coordinator Tom Allen has taken over this year’s defense.
Rising sophomore Sammy Brown described his thoughts on Allen. Despite Allen’s arrival just a couple of short months ago, Brown explained his energy has been great.
Brown described fatherly elements that are displayed within Allen.
“It’s funny because he kind of acts like my dad in the things he says.” Brown said. “He’s family. He’s going to be like a second dad to us.”
High expectations surround the coaching staff and players, as Brown is highly expectant of what he has to offer.
“I think he’s going to give us everything he’s got, and I think he expects the same thing of us.” Brown said. “He’s a motivator.”
After an impressive freshman year, Brown shows no signs of slowing down. He explained his main goal for his sophomore season is to take another step forward.
After 80 total tackles and 5 sacks last season, Brown voiced his yearn to continue to build upon those stats. He said the notorious sophomore slump is something that he plans to avoid at all costs.
“I can never be satisfied with what I did last year,” he said.
