Newly Offered Lineman Says Clemson Truly Has Something Different

CLEMSON — There is a new name to know for the 2026 recruiting class.

Clemson handed out a new offer on Friday, as three-star offensive lineman Dalton Toothman (Vancleave, Ocean Springs, MS) announced an offer from the Tigers after his first visit to campus.

Offensive line coach Matt Luke made a stop in to see Toothman during the contact period, convincing him to get to Clemson for a visit in the spring.

“He came to my house in January and we had a great conversation,” Toothman told The Clemson Insider. “He told me he really enjoyed talking with me and wanted me to visit.”

It was a visit that made an impression on the young offensive lineman.

“It was a great visit,” Toothman said. “They truly have something different there. Just the way they do things is totally different from a lot of places.”

With the Tigers being so selective about who they offer, this one stood out to Toothman.

“Coach Luke told coach swinney about me and he made the decision,” he said. “I was super excited because not many people get offered there.”

Toothman just picked up his offer, but his relationship with Luke goes back a while longer. While the bond between the two is still developing, Toothman has seen enough to have a high level of respect for Luke as a coach.

Toothman also has offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU and Ole Miss, to name a few.

After a round of spring visits, Toothman plans to take some summer officials then sit down and make a decision. While he has yet to lock in an official to Clemson, attending the big official visit weekend was an option he said was on the table.

One thing is for certain, though, and that is Luke is recruiting him hard and Clemson made an impression during his first trip to campus.

“We’ve talked a lot,” Toothman said. “I really enjoyed the visit and how he coaches.”
