Newly Offered DT Calls Elite Retreat ‘Different’

The extremely positive returns from the Elite Retreat continue to roll in.

Four-star DT Elijah Golden (Cardinal Mooney, Sarasota, FL) was one of a handful of players to pick up an offer while in town.

“The visit was great,” Golden told The Clemson Insider. “I definitely had a good time spending time with the coaches.”

The visit was the first time Golden has gotten to experience Clemson and the culture in place inside of Dabo Swinney’s program hit the mark.

“What stood out to me is how different Clemson is from other schools in how they do things,” Golden added.

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound recruit now has close to 40 offers, including Alabama, Florida, Michigan and Notre Dame.

The Army-Navy Bowl participant tallied 61 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, 10 sacks and 18 quarterback hurries as a junior. He earned MaxPreps’ second-team Junior All-American honors.

He still has spring visits planned for Virginia Tech, Alabama and Notre Dame. He actually plans to visit Tuscaloosa twice.

No word yet on whether Golden gets back to Clemson for the big official visit weekend. Golden said he is still trying to figure out some things with his calendar.

However, after notching the offer at the Elite Retreat, Clemson has given themselves a chance. It’s an offer Golden was looking to earn.

“Happy. I am blessed,” Golden said.
