Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney met with the media Wednesday evening following the Tigers’ scrimmage at Memorial Stadium.
Swinney gave an injury update on true freshman Marquise Henderson, a prolific local running back who joined Clemson as an all-purpose athlete.
Henderson signed with Clemson in December and enrolled early in January, but the 5-foot-10, 170-pounder has been out of action in spring practice due to a hamstring injury.
“He’s still battling the hamstring, so he hasn’t been able to go since I guess first practice,” Swinney said. “So, hate that for him, but he’s got a long way to go.”
A four-year starter at Belton-Honea Path High School, Henderson entered the early signing period just shy of 8,000 all-purpose yards over 47 career games. He averaged a remarkable 11 yards per rush on 577 career carries for 6,369 yards prior to Early Signing Day on Dec. 4.
Henderson was named to the South Carolina team for the 2024 Shrine Bowl, and he came into Early Signing Day credited with 148 carries for 1,775 yards and 23 touchdowns in his senior season.
Henderson, a unanimous four-star prospect, was ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 182 overall player in the nation, the 14th-best running back and the No. 4 player in South Carolina for the 2025 class.
