Through the first few spring practices, some of the freshmen offensive linemen are holding their own.
Junior lineman Harris Sewell has taken notice of all three early enrollees through the first portion of spring ball.
“I think all of them honestly,” Sewell said when asked which of the first-year players are standing out. “They are all doing really good.”
“Gavin (Blanchard), Rowan (Byrne)… all of them. Brayden (Jacobs), they all look really good.”
One that has really caught Sewell’s eye is Easton Ware. A four-star talent coming out of high school, Ware was one of the top players in the state of Virginia.
“Easton has really caught my eye on the right side,” Sewell added. “He is a big dude. He has got strong hands. He is doing really well.”
Another one standing out is Brayden Jacobs, who Dabo Swinney said might be the best tackle prospect he’s ever signed.
The 6-foot-7, 320-pounder was also a four-star recruit, who 247 ranked No. 51 overall and as the eighth-best tackle in the class.
“He moves really well for how big he is,” Sewell said. “I am super-excited to watch him He has got great hands and great feet.”
At the same time, getting on the field early may be difficult for the freshmen. The Tigers return a wealth of experience along the offensive line, including four starters from a season ago.
Either way, based on some of the early returns, the future looks bright for offensive line coach Matt Luke’s group.
