Clemson Loses Player to Transfer Portal

CLEMOSN — Clemson lost a player to the transfer portal Monday morning.

The Clemson Insider has confirmed that forward Asa Thomas plans to enter his name into the transfer portal.

Thomas is the first Clemson player to enter his name into the portal since the season came to an end last Thursday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Thomas redshirted in 2023-’24, and missed most of this past season due to injury. In 2023-’24, he underwent season-ending shoulder surgery and redshirted the season.

The redshirt freshman played in 12 games overall this past season and averaged 1.2 points per game. Thomas was 4-for-10 from the field, including 4-for-7 from 3-point range.

Thomas is a 6-foot-7, 185-pound guard from Lake Forest, Ill. and was rated a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports and Rivals coming out of high school.

He led the Illinois Wolves (AAU) in scoring in his final season on the UAA circuit, averaging 15.1 points per game, while shooting 45.0 percent from the field and 38.0 percent from three.

Thomas was recognized by Synergy Sports as being the most offensively efficient player on the UAA 17U circuit at the time. Thomas averaged a circuit-best 1.07 points per possession.
