CLEMSON — It was a rough day at the ballpark for No. 4 Clemson.
Stanford snapped the Tigers’ 8-game win streak, as well as its own 11-game losing streak in ACC play, with an 11-6 victory at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Sunday.
The Cardinal (19-14, 6-12 ACC) was 8 of 17 with two outs on Sunday. Six of their 11 runs came with two outs. They finished the game with 14 hits.
Clemson (33-6, 11-4 ACC) won the three-game series thanks to victories on Friday and Saturday night. One of the reason for the Tigers’ loss was their inability to pick up runners with two outs and in scoring position.
The Tigers were 1-for-10 with two outs.
“We are sort of happy we got the series win, and big-picture we will be happy with that because (Stanford) is a much better team than maybe their conference record shows,” Bakich said. “They got power pitching up and down their roster and a really good lineup that has a lot of threats.
“They got 30 hits on the weekend and 17 of them came on two outs. They did a really good job of competing and we were really fortunate to get two victories on the weekend.”
