CLEMSON — Clemson officially announced its starter for tonight’s game against No. 17 Louisville. The third-ranked Tigers host the Cardinals in Game 2 of their three-game series at Doug Kingsmore Stadium starting at 5 p.m.
Clemson (34-6, 12-4 ACC) announced righty Drew Titsworth will make his first career start tonight. He has 13 appearances this season with a 3.63 ERA. He is 3-0 on the year and teams are hitting .229 in 22 1/3 innings of work.
The righty has allowed 10 runs on 19 hits this year. Nine of those runs are earned, and he has 29 strikeouts to seven walks.
Tonight will be the first time this season Clemson has changed its pitcher in Game 2 of a series. Ethan Darden had started in the previous nine instances. However the lefty has struggled with consistency in recent weeks.
Though Darden has produced a 4-2 record in his nine starts, his ERA has gone up to 6.07. He has allowed 33 runs in 40 innings of work. He has 34 strikeouts to 16 walks on the year and has given up 46 hits.
The junior has been the Tigers’ Game 2 starter since the midway point of last season when he got the win vs. Florida State. He started 12 games as a freshman in 2023 and last year he made 11 starts.
Against Stanford, last week, Darden was unable to make it out of the second inning. He gave up five runs (three earned) on six hits in 1 2/3 innings. He has failed to make it through the fourth inning in three of his last four starts.
