Clemson softball took down No. 1 Tennessee Tuesday night on the road.
The Tigers won 4-3 in nine innings. It is the first time Clemson softball has defeated the No. 1 team in the nation.
Reese Basinger got the start in the circle and went five innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits while striking out seven. Brook McCubbin pitched four scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win (11-5).
Taylor Pipkins went 1-for-3 at the plate with one RBI, while Maddie Moore and Jamison Brockenbough both went 1-for-3 as well.
Ava Wilson, who pinch ran for Macey Cintron, scored on a foul out in the top of the ninth to put the Tigers on top 4-3.
With the win, Clemson improves to 37-13 on the season. Tennessee drops to 37-10.
