Tar Heel State CB: ‘Everything’ Stands Out About Clemson

Akedran Crumel has seen his recruitment take off this spring.

The 2027 cornerback (Clayton, NC) has been quite busy taking visits over the past few weeks, which included a stop at Clemson for a spring practice in late March.

“Everything. The facilities, the practice,” Krumel told The Clemson Insider. “The energy of the coaching staff. How they all knew me before I even got there. It was like family.”

While on campus, Crumel got to catch up with corners coach Mike Reed.

“I got to talk to him a little bit at practice,” Crumel added. “He’s funny, a family guy. I loved the energy. He had everybody hyped. Teaching them every step. Just making them better players on the field.”

Crumel already has well over one dozen offers. Florida State, Virginia Tech, Kentucky and West Virginia are just a few of those.

NC State, Duke, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, and Ohio State all got spring visits, too. Outside of the Volunteers, all those schools have offered. The Gamecocks and Buckeyes are two of his most recent offers, and Southern Cal also offered in the middle of March.

While the spring has been quite the whirlwind, Crumel is doing his best to keep things in perspective.

“Just one day at a time,” he said. “Just staying humble.”

The Tigers won’t start offering 2027 prospects until June, and seeing as Crumel grew up a Clemson fan, that is an offer he really wants.

“I would be happy. Real happy,” Crumel said. “I have been a fan of Clemson.”

With it still being so early in the process, the 6-foot-1 corner is taking things slowly. For now, he’s trying to find which school he sees as a potential fit. He does know what it is he is looking for, and Clemson would seem to check a lot of those boxes.

“Just family, feeling like I am at home,” Crumel said. “Don’t want to feel left out or nothing. And good coaching, who can help me get to the next level.”
