A former Clemson safety heard his name called on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft.

On Friday night, Andrew Mukuba was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round with the No. 64 overall pick – the final pick of Round 2.

Mukuba, of course, spent three seasons at Clemson before transferring back home to play his fourth and final season for Texas in 2024.

Mukuba will join a trio of former Clemson teammates on the Eagles’ roster – running back Will Shipley, linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and defensive end KJ Henry.

Mukuba entered the transfer portal in December 2023 and then transferred to Texas in the spring of 2024.

In his Clemson career from 2021-23, Mukuba totaled 149 tackles (4.5 for loss), one sack, 20 pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and an interception over 35 games (31 starts).

A former consensus four-star prospect from LBJ Early College High School, Mukuba made an immediate impact for the Tigers in his first season, when he earned freshman All-American honors from nearly every outlet that year, in addition to being named the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year. He remained productive while starting 11 of the 12 games he played in for Clemson in 2022 and playing in 10 games (all starts) in 2023.

Mukuba enjoyed a successful return home to the Lone Star State, earning third-team All-SEC honors in his lone season as a Longhorn. In 15 games, the 6-foot, 190-pounder collected 69 tackles (4.0 for loss), six pass breakups, a forced fumble and a career-high five interceptions.

Mukuba and the Longhorns faced the Tigers in the College Football Playoff first-round game at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin on Dec. 21, and Mukuba recorded three tackles with a pass breakup in the 38-24 victory for Texas.

Mukuba later sealed the Longhorns’ 39-31 win over Arizona State in the CFP Quarterfinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Jan. 1, with his interception on the sideline in double-overtime.
