Clemson Players Named ACC Freshman & Pitcher of the Year

CLEMSON – Freshman Macey Cintron was named ACC Freshman of the Year, while senior Reese Basinger garnered ACC Pitcher of the Year accolades, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Wednesday.

This is in conjunction with seven total players being selected to All-ACC teams, including Cintron, Basinger, Maddie Moore and Alex Brown each earning first team honors. Senior Brooke McCubbin, junior Jamison Brockenbrough and freshman Marian Collins also received All-ACC nods.

Alongside garnering Freshman of the Year honors, Cintron picked up All-ACC First Team and All-Freshman honors. The Cummings, Ga., native posted a .395 average in conference play with a .816 slugging percentage and .483 on-base percentage. She tallied 30 hits, including eight home runs, six doubles and one triple, while contributing 27 RBIs – the second-most by a Tiger in conference play. She drew 12 walks and scored 18 runs.

Also appearing in the circle in nine games, the freshman held a 1.03 ERA through 20.1 innings of work. She held opponents to a .227 average and earned two victories with one save.

Basinger was named ACC Pitcher of the Year and a first team honoree in her first season with the Tigers. The senior led Clemson with 18 appearances in conference play and pitched 84.1 innings with 49 strikeouts.

The Evans, Ga., native held a 3.32 ERA and won 11 games. She limited opponents to a .240 average while tallying seven complete games and one solo shutout.

Moore picked up her second career All-ACC First Team honors. She finished the conference season with a .372 average with a .791 slugging percentage and .402 on-base percentage. She clocked 32 hits, including a team-high 10 home runs. She also led the team with five stolen bases and 39 RBIs. The Loomis, Calif., native scored 28 runs and recorded 51 putouts and 40 assists at second base.

Brown notched her third All-ACC career honor with her 2025 first team selection. The Savannah, Ga., native led the Tigers with a .473 average, 35 hits and 31 runs scored against ACC opponents.

The senior clocked a .568 on-base percentage with 19 walks in the leadoff role. She finished the year with four stolen bases, 19 RBIs and only four strikeouts in 74 at bats.

McCubbin garnered her first All-ACC honor as a third team pitcher. The right-handed pitcher finished the season with a 2.94 ERA while limiting opponents to a .280 average.

The senior picked up six wins on 14 appearances, including one solo shutout and one combined. The Locust Grove, Ga., native picked up two saves in 47.2 innings of work and struck out 33 batters.

She struck out a career-high 12 batters at Syracuse earlier this season and earned Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week accolades during the year.

Joining McCubbin on the third team was Brockenbrough. The junior finished with a .383 average with a .467 slugging percentage and .457 on-base percentage.

Clemson’s starting center fielder recorded 23 hits and scored 23 runs. The Locust Grove, Ga., native stole three bases, drew seven walks and added eight RBIs.

Rounding out the ACC awards was Collins, who joined Cintron on the all-freshman team. She finished with a .354 average that including 23 hits.

With seven doubles and four home runs in conference play, the freshman clocked a .646 slugging percentage and drew 14 walks to contribute to her .463 on-base percentage. The Marietta, Ga., native tallied 19 RBIs, scored 10 runs and added 28 putouts with 45 assists at shortstop.

The Tigers’ seven selections in 2025 tied for the most players to receive postseason conference accolades in the program’s six-year existence, while the four first-team honorees are the most in a single year. All-ACC is voted on by each institution’s head coaches and consists of 15 First Team, 15 Second Team and 15 Third Team members. Coaches vote based on ACC stats only.

The Tigers, who finished with a 19-5 ACC record, return to the field on Thursday, May 8 for their first game of the 2025 ACC Championship. Clemson, the two seed, is slated to take on the winner of the Virginia/Louisville game happening on Wednesday at 5 p.m. First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 5 p.m. on ACC Network in Brighton, Mass.
