Not only did Clemson win its first ACC Tournament Championship, thanks to Kyle Johnson’s two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning to take down No. 3 Florida State, 2-1, on Saturday at Harrington Village in Brighton, Mass. But the Tigers also landed several players on the all-tournament team.
Clemson landed four on the ACC Championship All-Tournament team with freshman Taylor Pipkins being named the Tournament MVP. Additional Tigers selected included, senior Aby Vieira, senior Maddie Moore and senior Brooke McCubbin.
Pipkins, of course, had the game-winning grand slam in the Tigers’ quarterfinal win over Virginia on Thursday, while knocking in a run in their comeback-win over Virginia Tech in the semifinals on Friday.
Moore also had a big home run in the Virginia win, and had a double in Clemson’s eight-run sixth inning to beat the Hokies.
Vieira was solid throughout the tournament, as she led the Tigers with five hits and threw several runners out from her catcher’s position.
McCubbin earned the win in all three victories, as she was solid throughout the tournament in the circle.
