CLEMSON — Clemson head coach Erik Bakich felt like it was matter of time before No. 9 Clemson found its way out of its hitting slump.
He was right, at least on Friday night at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. After missing several opportunities the last several weeks to score runs with in runners scoring position or failing to connect on two out hits to drive in runs, the Tigers went 3-for-9 with two outs and 4-for-14 with runners in scoring position in their 9-7 victory over Duke in Game 1 of their three-game series.
With the win, Clemson improves to 38-13 overall and 15-10 in the ACC, while Duke falls to 33-16 and 14-11 in the ACC.
