Clemson Dominates Pitt to Take Series

Clemson dominated Pitt 11-2 Friday afternoon to win the series with the Panthers.

Drew Titsworth had an outstanding start for the Tigers. Titsworth pitched six innings and only gave up five hits, two runs and two earned runs.

Cannarella singled to start the game and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Priest hit a sacrifice fly to score Cannarella and the Tigers led 1-0.

In the second inning Crighton hit a leadoff single and then stole second. Gaffney bunted Crighton over to third. Crighton scored on a wild pitch. Wentworth was hit by a pitch and then stole second. Gaffney grounded out advancing Crighton to third. Cannarella singled to score Crighton. Purify smashed a two-run home run to put Clemson on top 5-0.

Paino walked to start the third. Listi grounded out advancing Paino to second. Paino stole third base. Crighton was hit by a pitch. Gaffney grounded out to second scoring Paino. Wentworth doubled up the middle scoring Crighton and the Tigers led 7-0.

Pitt got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run home run.

In the fifth Listi singled to leadoff. Crighton followed with a single to left. Listi advanced to third on a Gaffney fly to right. Crighton stole second base. Wentworth singled up the middle to score Listi and Crighton to put the Tigers up 9-2.

Paino doubled down the left field line with one away in the sixth. Listi doubled up the middle to score Paino. Listi stole third and then scored on a wild pitch and the Tigers led 11-2.

With the win Clemson moved to 40-15 on the season and 17-12 in the ACC.
