Georgia Lineman Set to Return to Clemson

A big offensive lineman is set to return to Clemson next month.

2027 prospect Carter “Big Red” Mathis (Gainesville, GA) will be on campus on June 4 to work out at Dabo Swinney’s high school camp.

The 6-foot-7, 310-pounder worked out at camp last summer, then returned for an unofficial visit for the Tigers’ blowout win over NC State last October.

“The facilities are great,” Mathis told The Clemson Insider in a previous interview. “The personalities of the coaching staff and all the recruiting personnel. Just the atmosphere as a whole at Clemson is unreal.”

Mathis, who is ranked a three-star by at least one of the recruiting services, attends the same high school as former Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson. Auburn offered last December, with Coastal Carolina, Memphis, Miami (OH), UMass, Tulane, Kennesaw State, Georgia State and Tennessee State being the other schools to have already offered.

Mathis took spring visits to Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina and NC State.
