Four-Star RB Target No Longer Taking Official Visit to Clemson

One of Clemson’s top two running back targets is no longer taking an official visit to Clemson.

Four-star RB Carsyn Baker (Langston Hughes, GA) has informed the school that he no longer plans to attend the official visit weekend set to begin on May 30. Ohio State, Georgia, Florida State and South Carolina were the other four finalists he announced in April.

Baker is one of two running back targets that was set to attend. That leaves four-star Jae Lamar (Colquitt County) as the only back currently scheduled to be on hand that weekend.

Clemson zeroed in on Baker early this year, with running backs coach CJ Spiller visiting him multiple times during the contact period in January. Baker then visited Clemson for the first time ever in March, attending a spring practice. After a meeting with Dabo Swinney during that visit, Baker became just the second running back in the 2026 class to announce an offer from the Tigers.

“I was talking to coach Swinney and when he offered me inside his office, he was like, ‘Man, coach Spiller has only offered one back. You’re only the second one he’s offered so far,’” he said. “It just really felt good. I got offered by Clemson, and they don’t really offer nobody.”

Baker rushed for 1,282 yards as a junior with 13 touchdowns. He had six games with more than 100 yards on the ground and averaged 8.8 yards per carry.

With Baker now out of the picture, it will be interesting to see how Spiller responds and who he targets next. The Tigers are only expected to sign one back in the class.

Rivals ranks Baker No. 169 overall and No. 10 among all running backs.
