CLEMSON — On Sunday, Clemson learned it will be one of the 16 host regional sites in the NCAA Baseball Tournament, which begins later this week.
Monday, the Tigers learned who they will play in the 2025 Clemson (NCAA) Regional, which begins on Friday.
Clemson (44-16), the No. 11 overall seed in the NCAA Field and the No. 1 seed in the Clemson Regional, will play fourth seed USC-Upstate (36-23) on the opening day of the tournament. West Virginia (41-14) will be the No. 2 seed in the regional and will play No. 3 Kentucky (29-24) on the first day.
The Tigers faced USC-Upstate once during the regular season, winning 7-0 at Fluor Field.
The Clemson Regional will be paired up with the Baton Rouge Regional. LSU is the No. 6 overall seed, meaning the Clemson Regional Champion will travel to LSU for the Super Regional Round of the NCAA Tournament (June 6-9).
This year marks the 19th time since 1980–the first year the Tigers hosted a regional–that Clemson hosts an NCAA Regional. It’s also the third year in a row the program has hosted an NCAA Regional.
The Tigers will make their 47th NCAA Tournament appearance, fifth most in NCAA history. Clemson joins Arkansas as the only programs in the nation to host a regional each of the last three years.
The Tigers’ 47 NCAA appearances rank fifth all-time in college baseball, as they begin their journey for a 13th appearance in the College World Series (CWS). Clemson’s 12 CWS appearances rank 12th all-time.
Last year, Clemson won its first regional title since 2010, as it knocked off Coastal Carolina, 12-5, in the Clemson Regional Championship Round. The Tigers, who were 3-0 in the regional, lost to Florida in the Clemson Super Regional the following week.
The Tigers have an all-time record of 125-99 (.558) in NCAA Tournament games, since their first appearance in 1947.
