2 Clemson Non-Con Games Ranked Amongst Best

College Sports Network highlighted the biggest non-conference matchups that will define the upcoming college football season, or games that are “packed with high stakes, star power, and must-watch drama in 2025.”

Two Clemson contests made that list of must-see non-conference matchups, including the annual rivalry showdown against South Carolina.

The series of Palmetto State rivals will reignite on Nov. 29 when Clemson travels to Columbia to face South Carolina at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Clemson has won each of its last five road games at South Carolina across the 2015-23 seasons, and a win would give the Tigers six straight road wins against the Gamecocks for the first time since winning in Columbia six straight times across the 1989-99 seasons.

This year’s Clemson-Carolina game came in at No. 4 in the College Sports Network ranking.

“Clemson is expected to be one of the most exciting and top teams this upcoming season. However, the Gamecocks will put up a strong fight in their interstate rivalry game. This matchup will see LaNorris Sellers go up against Cade Klubnik, which should attract a lot of attention from the NFL scouts,” College Sports Network wrote.

“Late last year, South Carolina pulled off a major upset against its rival that many analysts thought more credibly warranted them getting into the College Football Playoffs consideration. The Gamecocks have won two of the last three games against Clemson. If all goes according to plan, this could be one of the season’s biggest matchups.”

Clemson’s marquee season opener vs. LSU is ranked No. 3 among the biggest non-conference games.

After four previous postseason meetings, Clemson and LSU will meet one another in regular season play for the first time in history when the ACC’s Tigers welcome the Bayou Bengals to Memorial Stadium on Aug. 30.

Clemson is 12-5 against SEC opponents in regular season play in the College Football Playoff era. The marquee matchup between the respective conference powers will mark Clemson’s first time opening a season at home since 2019, as the Tigers opened all five seasons from 2020-24 either on the road or at a neutral site.

“August 30 is shaping up to be one of the wildest opening weekends of college football in recent memory. This game marks the first meeting between LSU and Clemson since Joe Burrow and the SEC’s Tigers knocked off Trevor Lawrence and the ACC’s Tigers in the national championship game,” College Sports Network wrote.

“Clemson has won 70 of its last 75 home games this decade, and is a very early favorite against LSU in Death Valley on opening weekend. Clemson is the favorite to win the ACC title this year, and LSU really needs to take a step forward. So, something is going to have to give here.” Texas at Ohio State (Aug. 30) is the No. 1 out-of-conference game in 2025, according to College Sports Network, while Notre Dame at Miami (Aug. 31) is ranked No. 2 and Florida at Miami (Sept. 20) is No. 5.
