Former Tiger Finds NFL Home as Undrafted Free Agent

A former Clemson offensive lineman has found a home in the NFL.

After going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, Marcus Tate has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles announced the signing of Tate on Monday.

The 6-5, 321-pounder participated in the Eagles’ rookie camp earlier this spring.

Tate played in 2,502 career offensive snaps over 42 games, including 37 starts, from 2021-’24 despite battling several injuries during his Clemson career. The South Florida native became only the third Clemson true freshman offensive lineman since 1972 to start a season opener when he started Clemson’s 2021 opener against Georgia in Charlotte.

A four-year starter, who exited Clemson as one of 28 players on record to play more than 2,500 career snaps from scrimmage, Tate was a 2024 All-ACC selection.

Tate played all of last season hurt after he injured his knee in the Tigers’ season-opening loss to Georgia. However, he started 10 games and took 659 snaps at left guard. A second-team All-ACC selection, he helped the Clemson offense finish 11th nationally in total yards per game.

He was a part of a Clemson program that won two ACC Championships during his career, including this past year when they advanced to the College Football Playoff for the first time since 2020.

Tate now joins former Clemson teammates Will Shipley, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., K.J. Henry and Andrew Mukuba on the reigning Super Bowl champions’ roster.
