Two Clemson Pitchers Enter Transfer Portal

A couple of Clemson pitchers have put their names into the NCAA transfer portal.

Sophomore righthander Luke Brown and redshirt freshman lefty Jackson Cole entered the portal on Monday, after the No. 11 Tigers’ season came to an end Sunday with a 16-4 loss to Kentucky in the Clemson Regional.

After making just one appearance in his freshman season in 2024, Brown appeared in five games this season and pitched 2.1 innings. The 6-foot-7, 205-pounder allowed seven hits and seven runs with one walk and three strikeouts. In his lone appearance in 2024, he pitched one inning in relief, allowing one hit and a run with one walk with one strikeout.

Cole, meanwhile, redshirted in 2024 before tossing 3.2 innings across six appearances this season. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder yielded six hits and seven runs (six earned) while walking four and striking out one.

Cole came out of Boiling Springs High School as the No. 212 lefthander in the nation by Perfect Game, while he was ranked as the No. 39 player and No. 7 lefthander in South Carolina by Perfect Game. He was a North-South All-Star Game selection, as well as the region player of the year and Spartanburg County player of the year as a senior.

Brown, a product of Middle Creek High School (Apex, N.C.), came to Clemson as the No. 254 righthander in the nation by Perfect Game, and the No. 23 player and No. 6 righthander in North Carolina by Perfect Game. He owns the career and season strikeout records at Middle Creek High, where he was a first-team all-state selection, the conference pitcher of the year and a two-time all-conference selection. His mother, Ashley Self, played volleyball at Clemson (1993-96).
