Swinney Camp Notebook: Day 1 Morning Session

CLEMSON — Dabo Swinney’s high school camps kicked off on Tuesday, with more than 500 players expected to compete on the first day of action.

The Clemson Insider was on hand for all of the action, spending the morning session focusing on players on the offensive side of the ball.

– One of the players we were looking forward to watching the most was four-star WR Myles McAfee (Archbishop Spalding, MD), and the 5-foot-11 prospect did not disappoint. McAfee showed off extremely soft hands and ran his routes with a purpose. McAfee is one of the top wideouts in the 2027 class, already sporting offers from Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Miami and Florida State. You have to wonder if he becomes one of the Tigers’ opening offers at receiver. It is definitely an offer he wants.

– 2027 Four-star in-state Jaiden Kelly-Murray (Summerville) was another prominent wideout on hand. The 5-foot-10 receiver showed a propensity to catch the ball out in front of him and reels in everything thrown in his direction. Arkansas, Duke and Georgia Tech are a few of his offers. He is one of the top players in the state

– 2027 in-state receiver Darius Carter is back at camp. Carter has been a frequent visitor to Clemson and and put on some noticeable size since this time last summer. Carter is a smooth route runner. He camped at Tennessee on Monday and some of his offers include ECU, App State and Liberty.

– 2027 QB Ben Musser (Prince Avenue, Bogart, GA) was back on campus working out for the staff. The three-star QB has visited multiple times in the past. Musser stands 6-foot-2 and throws a nice ball, with a soft touch.

– 2028 QB Austan Christiaan (Bishop Verot, FL) also threw for the staff. The rising sophomore also throws a nice ball with some zip. As he continues to grow and add some strength, he is only going to get better.

– 2027 four-star RB Andrew Beard was arguably the best of the bunch at his position. He is agile and smooth, and also has some soft hands. The 5-foot-10 prospect is a Top 200 talent and already considered one of the best backs in the class. And he wants an offer from the Tigers.

– Four-star Reed Ramiser was the most prominent offensive lineman to work out this morning. Standing 6-foot-5 and already weighing more than 300 pounds, Ramiser already looks the part physically. Alabama, Florida, Florida State and Texas are a few of his bigger offers. Could he add one more to his list with his showing today?

– 2026 Four-star OL commit Braden Wilmes was in attendance, but did not work out. He is still in town from the big official visit weekend. His younger brother Reece is a 2028 offensive linemen and was more than holding his own against some of the older players on that practice field.

– 2026 three-star OL target Fletcher Turk is also on campus. While he is not working out, it is noteworthy that he is there. He was not able to make it to the official visit weekend and is expected to take his official later this month. The fact that he is going to be on campus multiple times over the next couple of weeks can’t be a bad thing. Turk was chatting it up with current commit Braden Wilmes for a lot of the morning.
