Clemson Offers 5-Star LB, Son of Former NFL Star

A five-star prospect – and the son of a former NFL star – has picked up an offer from Clemson.

Liberty Christian (Argyle, Texas) linebacker Cooper Witten announced an offer from Clemson on Wednesday after competing at the Dabo Swinney Football Camp.

Witten is the son of former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, an 11-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro. After being drafted by the Cowboys in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft, Witten spent 16 seasons with the franchise and ranks No. 4 in NFL history in career receptions (1,228).

Cooper is a five-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, which tout him as the nation’s No. 1 linebacker and the No. 17 overall prospect in the 2027 class regardless of position.

He lists more than two dozen total offers, including an offer from his father’s alma mater, Tennessee, as well as Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M and Southern Cal among others.
