CLEMSON — After a busy morning session, players started to head out, and things quieted down for the afternoon session of the Dabo Swinney Camp. However, that doesn’t mean there weren’t competitors of note.
Just like the morning, The Clemson Insider was on the scene this afternoon to get a look at all that’s going down at Swinney’s camp.
– One standout offensive player was quarterback Jace Grass, son of Clemson offensive assistant John Grass. A quarterback at Daniel, just down the road from Clemson, Grass is a rising sophomore in the class of 2028 and a talented competitor. His smooth release of the ball and his field vision, paired with his mobility and crisp pocket stance, stood out, and he put power under his passes.
– Wide receiver Amiri Acker made an appearance today for both sessions, and he has undeniable talent. Coming from Crescent High School in Iva, S.C., Acker was a massive piece of the team in its most recent season, helping them make it to the South Carolina football state championship quarterfinals. His speed and agility help him surge upfield, and his eyes and catching ability are noteworthy.
– Another wide receiver that was spotted was Amare Patterson, a rising junior from Ridgeland, S.C. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 178 pounds, Patterson competes for Beaufort High School near his hometown. His speed was elite, and his late bursts were powerful and helped him catch up to any ball thrown his way. Additionally, he has a great build and size, and he tracks the ball well in the air.
– Michael Martin II, running back from Christ Church in Greenville, competed as well at camp today. Martin II has amassed two offers, Syracuse and Wake Forest, and is set to graduate as part of the class of 2028. At 5-foot-9, 185 pounds, Martin II is a strongly built and toned rusher. His cuts and routes looked smooth and on time, and his hands were solid in carrying the ball and catching.
– One of the Tigers’ opening 2027 offers was linebacker Quinton Cypher, who was present today. As a four-star recruit from Millbrook in Raleigh, N.C., Cypher was part of a small but talented linebacker group at camp. His strong tackling skills were put on display alongside his powerful drive and execution, and his strong legs help him accelerate and generate explosive speed and hits.
– Quarterback Grayson Clary was another talented member of the throwing group today. Recently transferring to Rabun Gap in Georgia and reclassifying to the class of 2028, Clary showed off his smooth throwing skills in many drills. His three-step drop was noteworthy, and he displayed exceptional pocket movement and awareness while getting balls out on time in a powerful manner. He currently holds eight offers and is sure to be hoping for an offer from the Tigers someday as well.
