Matt Luke has added one final piece to his group of 2026 offensive linemen.
Four-star Carter Scruggs (Loudon County, Leesburg, VA) announced a commitment to Clemson on Wednesday, fresh off his official visit last weekend. Michigan, Penn State and Georgia were all expected to get officials this month, but those have now been scrapped.
Scruggs has visited multiple times in the past year. Before last weekend, he was last on campus for the Elite Retreat in March, and he said the Tigers were No. 1 for him coming out of that weekend.
“It went really well,” Scruggs told The Clemson Insider. “I got a lot out of the visit. Definitely putting Clemson number one for me right now.”
Scruggs is the second player to announce a commitment on Wednesday, with three-star DE JR Hardrick also announcing earlier in the afternoon. Four-star OL Leo Delaney announced a verbal pledge on Tuesday.
The addition of the 6-foot-6, 290-pound Scruggs gives Clemson six offensive linemen committed in the 2026 class. He joins four-stars Braden Wilmes, Adam Guthrie, Grant Wise and Chance Barclay, who all announced in March, and Delaney, who went public a day ago.
Rivals ranks Scruggs No. 159 overall, No. 8 among all players at his position and No. 3 in Virginia.
Clemson now sits at 18 total commitments in a class that was ranked inside the Top 5 nationally before Scruggs’ announcement.
