4-Star OL Recalls ‘Crazy Moment’ He Earned Clemson Offer

CLEMSON — Peyton Miller came, he saw and he conquered.

The four-star OL made the trek from Texas to the Upstate to compete at Dabo Swinney’s high school camp earlier this week. It was Miller’s first-ever trip to campus.

“It was great,” Miller told The Clemson Insider. “Everybody talks about how great culture is, and how great everything is at Clemson. I had to come see it for myself, and it did not disappoint. I mean, it lived up to everything and more. It really surprised me how great it was and how things run there. It was definitely a great visit.”

Miller, who hails from Anna High School, knocked it out of the park during his workout, impressing offensive line coach Matt Luke so much so that he was taken up to Dabo Swinney’s office, where the head coach offered the blue-chip lineman.

“It was pretty crazy because they were like, ‘We don’t offer many guys, and you earned it,'” Miller said. “You could be the best player in the country, but Clemson wants you to come earn the offer. And that was special. They said I had done enough to earn that offer from them. Coach Swinney said he was pretty impressed.”

The 6-foot-5, 295-pound recruit more than enjoyed his experience at camp, noting it was much different from others he’s attended.

“You do more football,” Miller said. “A lot of camps, you do a lot of combine testing. You do a lot of running and all kinds of stuff. But Clemson, you just put on the cleats, and you go, and you don’t stop. And you do it for a while. You get better, and you get coached how you would as a player there.”

“And just the involvement that coach Swinney has in the camp, him being around the whole time. I mean, at some camps, you will show up, and you’ll wonder where the head coach is the whole time. But he’s over there golf carting around, watching everybody practice. It’s pretty special.”

Getting coached up by Luke really hit the mark, not to mention what Miller has seen the Tigers’ offensive line coach doing on the recruiting front. Clemson currently has six offensive linemen committed in the 2026 class, with each one ranking as a four-star talent.

“He’s a great guy, great coach. Definitely a good hire for Clemson,” Miller said. “They don’t offer many guys. They’re known for not offering many people. Even with that, not offering many guys, he still gets a lot of commits. That’s definitely pretty special. They definitely have a high recruiting class even though they don’t offer many guys. It’s just because of the culture and how great it is there. And coach Luke, he’s won a national championship with Georgia, and he coached really well at Ole Miss. He definitely has an impressive resume.”

Miller already has more than 30 offers and he said Texas A&M, Oklahoma, SMU, Penn State, Arkansas, Texas Tech, Texas and now Clemson are some of the schools currently standing out. However, he’s in no rush to make any kind of decision, seeing as he has yet to start his junior year of high school.

For now, he is just enjoying the process and taking his visits, while looking for what schools might be the best fit. Miller did say he has every intention of getting back to Clemson for a game in the fall because he does feel the program checks all of the boxes when it comes to what he is looking for in a college destination.

“Probably winning, and I mean, you can’t go to Clemson and not win. The proof is in the pudding there,” Miller said. “Coach Swinney has won there for many, many years. So, winning, culture and relationships. Relationships that you’re going to grow in once you get there. Relationships out of football. And then your degree. Are you going to get your degree? Is it a good program? I’d say those are the highest things.”
