Clemson Offer Would ‘Mean World’ for Seaborn

Dabo Swinney’s high school camp is officially in the books, and over the past week, several high-profile quarterbacks rolled through town to throw in front of the Clemson coaching staff in an effort to secure one of the Tigers’ opening offers at the position.

One of the most impressive of the signal callers was Trent Seaborn (Thompson, Alabaster, AL), who worked out at two sessions on Saturday. The four-star talent certainly displayed all of the tools, with his pinpoint accuracy being one of the things that really stood out.

“I thought I did pretty well,” Seaborn told The Clemson Insider. “Coach Riley, coach Swinney, coach Boyd, and honestly, all the quarterback coaches were praising me a lot yesterday. They were very impressed by my accuracy. Coach Swinney said there’s a difference between accuracy and surgical precision, and he said I have that surgical precision. I was very, very blessed to hear that from him. Those words coming from his mouth, with him being such a legendary coach, it was truly an honor for him to say that. But there’s always room to improve.”

Seaborn already has close to three dozen offers, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, Michigan and Oregon. Now he is hoping to add one from the Tigers.

“They had a handful of guys they were looking at come through this week and weekend for camp that threw in front of them,” Seaborn said. “They said they were going to meet as a staff and handpick and choose who they decide to hand out the first offers to. They said they would reach back out to me, probably one day this week. Hopefully, they will make a call, but if not, no hard feelings. I am sure there were a bunch of quarterbacks that came through, and I know it has to be very hard to choose their favorites.”

Rivals ranks Seaborn No. 147 overall and No. 12 among all quarterbacks in his class. He hails from the same high school as current DT Peter Woods and has been the team’s starter since winning the job in the eighth grade. He has now helped guide Thompson to back-to-back state titles.

During his ninth-grade season, Seaborn won MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year honors. As a sophomore, he went out and threw for 2,675 yards with 26 touchdowns to just seven interceptions.

The next accolade he is looking to earn is that hard-to-get Clemson offer, and Seaborn is hoping that phone call comes this week.

“An offer from Clemson would truly mean the world,” Seaborn said. “It’d be a huge step in this whole process. The way they do things, the way they recruit, and the way coach Swinney does things. It’s very special and unique, and I really respect them for it. You can tell with coach Swinney’s success and his resume that the things they do obviously work and have been very, very successful in the past.”

“Again, an offer from them would really mean the world, but I’d still keep the main thing, the main thing. That is staying focused with my team and hopefully winning two more state championships before I get out of here. But yeah, an offer would honestly mean a whole lot. Just the meaning behind it. But also just to keep continuing the relationship with them as well. I’m still a ways away from making a final decision, so just keep continuing that relationship.”
