4-Star QB ‘Checks All Boxes’ for Clemson

CLEMSON — Last week, several high-profile quarterbacks attended Dabo Swinney’s high school camp.

2027 four-star Teddy Jarrard (N. Cobb, Kennesaw, GA) made the trek to Clemson, working out early last week.

While it was Jarrard’s first time visiting Clemson, he’s always admired Swinney’s program and the culture the head coach has built.

“Really, just the program and what they’ve built with coach Swinney over the years,” Jarrard told The Clemson Insider. “I think a big thing for me is the transfer portal and knowing that coach Swinney doesn’t like to use that very much. I think he’s just built a great program, and he backs it up with a great culture. Clemson’s a really well-known school, and I think he’s a great person that you want to play for.”

Jarrard has also developed a relationship with Garrett Riley, with the Tigers’ offensive coordinator visiting his high school during the spring to watch him throw.

“I wanted to go and come up there and throw for coach Riley as well,” Jarrard added. “That was pretty much my thought process behind it. I’ve been talking to coach Riley. He came and saw me at one of my spring practices, and told me to come up to camp.”

And Jarrard got excellent feedback from both Riley and Swinney.

“They love my game, and they love how I play,” Jarrard added. “Coach Swinney basically told me that I would fit perfectly in at Clemson. That I check all the boxes is what he said.”

It’s widely known that Clemson handles the recruiting process a little differently than most. The Tigers generally hand out far fewer offers than most every other Power-4 school and are slower with the process. So far, Clemson has handed out just one offer to a quarterback in the 2027 class.

“They said they’re slow with the recruiting process, and they’re going to come out with their idea of 2027, quarterbacks after this camp series,” Jarrard said. “He said they would start handing out offers after camp.”

Jarrard already has more than 30 offers. He recently impressed at a Rivals camp and just landed an offer from Penn State. Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan and Miami are just a few of his other offers.

When and if the staff at Clemson decides to expand the board at the position, Jarrard is hopeful that he is the one who gets that call.

“I just want to be where my feet are, and I don’t want to get too ahead of myself,” Jarrard said. “I think my play talks for itself. I have worked hard, but we’ll see. I think coach Swinney and coach Riley love what I do and like my game.”
