Clemson Adds Player from Transfer Portal

The Clemson football program has picked up a commitment from an ACC transfer and the son of a current Clemson staff member.

North Carolina transfer offensive lineman Hayes Galloway announced Wednesday that he’s committed to the Tigers as a preferred walk-on.

“After entering the transfer portal in April as a PWO I have accepted an opportunity to continue my career with [Clemson Football] beyond grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait for a great season,” Galloway wrote in a social media post.

Galloway is the son of Lonnie Galloway, who is currently an assistant wide receivers coach for the Tigers.

Lonnie was previously on the coaching staff at UNC under Mack Brown and has also coached at Elon (1996-02), East Carolina (2003-04), Appalachian State (2005-07), West Virginia (2008-10, 2013-15), Wake Forest (2011-12) and Louisville (2016-18).

Hayes was an early enrollee who joined the UNC football program in January 2024 and redshirted last season.

A five-year veteran prepster at The Cannon School (Concord, N.C.), Hayes was a two-time all-conference performer and five-time team captain. He helped lead The Cannon School to a state title and two conference championships, and did not allow a sack as a senior, when he won the team’s outstanding offensive lineman award.

The 6-foot-4, 320-pounder also competed in track and field, wrestling and basketball at the prep level.
